Our board of trustees meets at least six times a year to govern the charity by setting policy, determining strategy, making major decisions about the use of finances and reviewing the charity’s operations. Board meetings are also attended by representatives from paid staff and our volunteers. All prospective board members are formally interviewed and given the opportunity to see the bureau and board at work. Every new trustee has to be proposed for appointment and then accepted at a full board meeting. Co-opted trustees then normally stand for election by our members at the next Annual General Meeting. Kristle Barker (Chair) email@example.com
Kristle Barker is a qualified actuary working in the pensions industry helping trustees of large occupational pension schemes manage their pension liabilities. She is also a volunteer adviser for the Pensions Advisory Service, helping individuals to resolve their pension issues. Kristle holds a degree in Mathematics from Cambridge University and has a keen interest in supporting the personal development of others, particularly with regards to financial education. She lives in Chesham with her husband and four children.
John Whiteley (Treasurer)
John is a chartered accountant with 20 years experience as finance director of publicly listed companies. He has been treasurer of Round Table and Rotary clubs, and helped to run a youth football team, for the purposes of which he became a qualified football referee. He lives in Berkhamsted with his wife and has two adult children. His hobbies include sport, the piano and rambling with a golden retriever.
Paul Bentall (Company Secretary)
Paul qualified as a lawyer more than 30 years ago and went on to hold positions in the insurance, ombudsman and regulatory sectors. He is married with two children and has lived in Berkhamsted for many years. His interests include sport, current affairs, literature, music and Rotary and he is a keen walker.
Pat Daley has worked in hospital management and public transport in both Human Resources and operational roles, and also started an interim consultancy which managed projects in the public sector. Pat became a Trustee of Chiltern CAB in 2014 and is also a Trustee for a local children's charity. She lives in Berkhamsted and enjoys keeping fit, playing golf, skiing and worldwide travel.
Lucy works in further education and skills sector with a particular focus on apprenticeships and employability training. Currently Chief Operating Officer for the Hart Learning Group, her experience includes consulting, business development and education programme development. She has worked with some of the largest private and public sector organisations in the country to set up apprenticeship programmes and engage with young people. She lives in Amersham with her husband and two sons.
Richard who holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Business Administration is an Executive Manager and Project/Commercial Management Consultant with experience in operations management, engineering, and business improvement. He owns his own business providing interim management and consultancy services to large organisations and Government agencies. Richard lives in Berkhamsted with his wife and his interests include: trekking, mountain biking, self-development and exploring the world.
Claire Seaward has worked in marketing and campaigns for the past 18 years, with organisations such as Oxfam, St John’s Ambulance and the Disability Rights Commission. Claire has run major campaigns in the UK, Middle East, Africa and Asia on social policy issues such as access to healthcare, disability rights and support for refugees. Claire is experienced in project management, research, advocacy, and media management. Claire is a newcomer to Chesham and her interests are walking, music and travel.
Farrukh Siddiqi has over 30 years experience of international semi-conductor industry working with Ferranti, SGS, NEC and Renesas. He has held senior management roles and has marketing, technical & project management background having established and managed several pan-European teams. He is also a volunteer gateway assessor and trainee adviser for Citizens Advice Watford and also does voluntary work with Rickmansworth Police. His interests include listening to music and worldwide travel. Farrukh is married, lives in Rickmansworth and has two children.
Alan Wallis worked in audit and then as a qualified tax accountant in the City of London. Since 1986 Alan has specialized in international corporation tax working mainly for two top 100 plcs. Alan’s interests include listening to music on his ipod and cycling. He is married, has 2 grown up daughters and since 2006 has lived near Tring.
Lesley worked for 20 years in the management consulting industry latterly as Global Managing Director for Mature Markets and Service for Hay Group. She was a senior partner and member of the Ownership Board. She is experienced in strategy development, leadership and business development as well as consulting on people and change. Before entering consulting she was a Human Resources Director in the public sector and spent some time working for Bucks County Council. Since 2016, Lesley has established a start up business with a number of former Hay Group partners which focuses on leadership and team development, culture change and executive coaching. Lesley is the MD of the business. She is also a Council member of the RNLI and was formerly a Trustee of Pohwer a local advocacy charity. Lesley is married and lives in Berkhamsted with her husband, dog and two cats. She has three adult stepsons.
