About us

Who we are

Citizens Advice Chiltern provides free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to people living or working in the Chiltern and South Bucks area on their rights and responsibilities. Citizens Advice Chiltern is an independent charity, relying on individuals and organisations for funding to cover our critical costs. Our aims are to provide the advice people need for the problems they face, and improve the policies and practices that affect people’s lives. We value diversity, promote equality and challenge discrimination.

Citizens Advice Chiltern is a member of Citizens Advice, the National Association of Citizens Advice offices, which supplies national and regional support, and assists in defining policy best practice and service quality systems. These are followed by Citizens Advice Chiltern as a condition of membership.

The difference we make

Citizens Advice Chiltern makes a real difference to the lives of about 10% of all households in the district by providing vital advice and information services. Last year our advisers helped 5,070 local people with over 17,487 individual problems. Many people have a number of issues they need help with and our advisers are ready to help and explore all aspects of a client’s situation. Problems are dealt with through face-to-face advice, on the telephone, by e-mail and via information on our website. For people unable to access services at our offices, we offer a Community Outreach advice service in community locations such as GP surgeries.

Social policy and preventative work

Besides offering advice we also seek to influence social policy through our experience of dealing with client issues. We offer financial education to many vulnerable groups in the community as part of our preventative work which enables people to make the most of their money, and understand the support available to them.
